Art Moments Budapest – Site #3 – Mikve | The Universal Sea – Pure or Plastic?!
October 11 @ 7:00 pm - October 22 @ 7:00 pm PDT
Colleen Flanigan’s VR Coralization Video was chosen to be included in this festival.
An amazing venue in Art Moments, The Universal Sea Budapest Festival, will be the Mikve, an old Jewish Ritual Bath.
WHERE?? Mikve, 1014 Budapest, Palota Street 1
Literally, it means “a gathering of waters” and it involves the concepts of “T’umah” (ritual impurity) and “Taharah” (ritual purity). It was designed for the Jewish rite of purification. So what place could be better to host our exhibition.
Running from October 12-23, 2018 art installations and artworks from international artists are on display in this historic space of the Mikve. Included are contemporary creations, as always most sensitive imprints of a given society, reflecting on our problems of water pollution. Some of the works serve as indicators, others give individual perspectives of society by reflecting economy, religion, and culture.
Focusing on the main topic of the Art Moments: The Universal Sea Budapest Festival, this exhibition brings together works from students and invited artists. Young artists are an essential part of shaping new perspectives. Bringing their works to a historical site these participating artists will engage with the past while rethinking how we live in the present and what can happen in the future. On show will be selected collaborative artworks by students from Berlin University of the Arts and Technical University of Berlin who have been working with different European science research institutes.
